Montrealer Maurice Devereaux went underground on the Toronto subway for six days, mucked about with religious extremism, and ended up with a gonzo horror movie that shocks and delights.
Shot in a quickie six days in the Toronto subway, Montrealer Maurice Devereaux's zombie horror flick is a sensation. And truly scary, particularly in the opening passages. The zombies here are religious extremists, so the movie has an intriguing socio-political underbelly. But it also functions at a high level as pure horror, and boasts a strong cast of young Canadian actors, real fresh faces. Don't be late for the screening because Rodrigo Gudino's 15-minute short, The Eyes Of Edward James, plays first. It's an immaculate yet harrowing recreation of a crime scene through the eyes of a psychiatric patient
